As a developer who uses this plugin on many sites, I now receive loads of emails from every site, every week, very annoying. Why was default not set to none? I can’t imagine how most people would want this.

  • I totally agree with you studiokb… why all these notifications by default?

+1 such a terrible idea to enable by default the completely useless ‘Your Weekly Duplicator Summary for’ e-mail

Yep, we just got our first flood of this garbage, and it’s completely stopped production for us until we are able to disable these in all of our sites, one by one.

New installations? Sure. Updates to existing ones? No. Do better.

Agree with this. It’s extremely frustrating! Please turn it off!

Duplicator is a great and reliable plugin, offered for free for a very long time. (Thank you, Duplicator team!) It is understandable that they would like to have more communication with their users, especially the free users.

But I totally agree: the weekly emails should be an “opt-in” feature, not the default for everyone.

Yes, some people use it for daily backup and create packages on a schedule. They would definitely benefit from the emails. But lots (millions?) of users like me probably make backups only infrequently. Why tell those users that nothing has happened (every week!)

If you don’t make backups on a schedule; if you manually create all packages, then summary emails are of no use, right? Perhaps the plugin could be smart enough to email you only if it was used. Otherwise, then definitely my vote is also to the make the emails opt-in.

I am in agreement that this sort of email should be opt-in by default, especially since the only thing that’s displayed in the email is a premium-only feature (scheduled backups) with an upsell-link.

    This email being sent
    1) without prior request (opt-out instead of opt-in)
    2) in bulk, (to each site’s admin email)
    3) and with a commercial nature (a summary that’s useless to free users and an upsell link beneath it)
means these mails score 3/3 fo being SPAM.

If this option is turned off by default I will be editing my low-score review (even if the annoying advertisement for the seedprod plugin is still there on the dash).

    Hi?everyone,

Thank you for reaching out to Duplicator support and please accept our apologies for the late reply, this topic was lost somehow!

These email summaries are reports that notify you about how?Duplicator performs on your website. They can help you protect your website and avoid potential crashes.

However, you can disable the email summary feature if you go to?Duplicator > Settings > Email Summary and set the?Frequency?to?Never

Please check this page for more information about the email summary feature:
    https://duplicator.com/knowledge-base/how-to-disable-email-summaries/

I hope this helps, and please don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything else you’d like to know. I’m here to help!

    Thanks!

@mohammedeisa, the issue is not with the purpose of that e-mails but the thing they became enabled by default which (as was mentioned in the first reply) are very annoying and non-informative especially when you have a lot of websites.

It’s ok if they send only the errors, but receiving

‘Below are the total numbers of successful and failed backups.
    State Backups
    Successful 0
    Failed 0

especially from a multiple sites, has zero useful information

I understand your concerns about sending the email summaries for all the cases.

I appreciate your collaboration and suggesting sending the email summaries in case of failures only.

I will forward your suggestion to the team to discuss it.

    Best regards!

    @mohammedeisa thank you!
