too many commas in map coordinates

The maps are displays well in the backend, but they are not in frontend. I noticed, that on searching and finding an adress, longitude and latitude have a format like “51.501588”.
After hitting “Save” however, the format changes to “51,501588” (with a comma instead of a period). Of course, the resulting URL in the frontend like https://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=&source=embed&q=51,501588,0,176161 doesn’t work – too many commas! ??
If a deactivate my german localization setlocale(LC_ALL, ‘de_DE’) in the theme, at least the values are stored correctly in the fields (with a period).
The map still doesn’t get displayed, but that may be a different error.
