Too hard box, you enter a compatibility spiral vortex
-
Too many steps. Requires a wordpress.com account. What for? ???♂?
Very nice in theory but ultimately I was not able to activate the plugin. Reason?
“Google Listings and Ads requires a 64 bit version of PHP”
(i.e. PHP version 7.4 or greater)
Yes I know how to do that BUT I’ve discovered before and so I know that updating to the “latest and greatest” php version always crashes one or two older & previously stable sites that I have on the same server. Not worth the risk to do that. I am managing over 10 websites here…
??????????
UPDATE:
Finally got the plugin working after php7.4 update.
The plugin seems to set up fairly easily… in the beginning…
However, you’re soon then faced with a bunch of hurdles in actually getting the listings approved. Otherwise they simply won’t ever actually display anywhere.
Firstly, you cannot bulk edit the “GTIN, UPC, EAN, JAN, ISBN” (or none) field.
So for sellers with one-of-a kind or vintage product with no identifiers, that means you have to edit them all manually, and separately. Why?????Are you trying to make my life easier, google, or harder? ??
Seems to be the latter.??
Here’s what you’re inevitably faced with when trying to actually get this thing working, a literal wall of red text/errors:Google found some issues that need your attention. What needs attention Mismatched currency in shipping information Prevents from showing in 26 countries Edit the shipping cost currency in your shipping information to match the one of your product price Learn more Missing tax information Prevents from showing in United States Add tax information in your product details or in Merchant Center settings Learn more Pending initial review Prevents from showing in all countries Please wait up to 3 business days for the review to be completed Learn more Policy requirements not met You have setup and policy issues that have an impact on your products and/or online store. Fix them and request a review, if necessary, to show your products on Google. Unsupported currency Prevents from showing in South Korea Use the currency of the country of sale in your product data Learn more Missing shipping in some countries Add shipping information for all countries you sell products in so customers know the delivery time and cost Learn more
I’m afraid this lot is going to be put in the “too hard box” for most people to resolve.
Looks like you have to add or edit all shipping options (again, even though they are already specified in woo), then match the country currency in most cases individually, even though you may be offering free shipping. Ah, if I’m offering “free shipping”, what difference does the currency make? It’s zero! I thought offering a flat-rate free shipping option would make my life easier. Not so with this plugin.??
