    Hello:

I am looking for a plugin that is more useful than the bare bones of the Media library of WP. I will be setting a WooCommerce store selling high resolution images (delivered through Google drive) the product images (low resolution images) will be in the Media Library. I like what I read that you can assign IPTC categories to taxonomies in WP as we photographers are used to work with IPT and XMP (Adobe) data.

But at the same time I see all this shortcodes of this program and get really scared.
Do you think this plugin is ok for newbies like me, or should I use a more comprehensive plugin that is thought for people with very little idea of WP. I really don’t want to fight the next month with another software. I prefer widgets that all this shortcodes thing that is prone to errors and not intuitive at all.

What do you think. Is this better for people that have a good understanding of WP? Or is it really that easy that I should have no problem dealing with it?

    Thnak you very much

    Cristian

Thanks for your questions and for the details on your intended application. As your initial MLA research has shown, the plugin is powerful and has many features but can be complex. The many topics in this support forum demonstrate both of those attributes.

You don’t have to use the MLA shortcodes to get the other benefits MLA can provide. You can use the WooCommerce product images and product galleries to display the low-resolution Media Library images. You can use MLA for its taxonomy support and for its ability to map IPTC, EXIF and XMP metadata to WordPress standard fields, taxonomy terms and custom fields.

I started MLA for my own use and it has grown over ten years into the version you see today. I certainly agree that it is a good solution for more experienced WordPress users, and I regret that I do not have the resources to make it more friendly for non-technical users. I do, however, provide all the help I can here in the support forum.

I am marking this topic resolved simply because I have answered your question as best I can. Please post an update or start a new topic if you have problems or further questions about how to use MLA in your application. Your historical images store looks fascinating and I wish you every success with it. Thanks for your interest in MLA.
