Toggling language only switches /fr /en but not URL

My site isn’t launched yet, but I am using the latest qTranslate 2.5.37 along with WP 3.6.1
I’m using pre-path mode https://www.mysite.com/fr or mysite.com/en. I use text labels rather than flags under my main nav menu.
When visiting the page https://www.mysite.com/fr/me-rejoindre and hit the “English toggle”, it only swaps out the /fr for /en and converts to https://www.mysite.com/en/me-rejoindre, which logically doesn’t exisit, and generates a 404.
How can I have the plugin to redirect to the proper equivalent page rather than just switching the language code in the URL? I have used other versions of coding found on the net, however it usually brings back the user to the homepage which is a bad user experience in my opinion.
I am simply looking for a way to toggle the CURRENT page between each enabled languages.
Any help would be appreciated.
