    I have 7 categories selected in the definition of the Today’s Events Widget. The items from the daily calendar shown in the Widget are displayed erratically: some items in categories which ARE NOT in my selected list ARE displayed and some items in categories which ARE in my selected list ARE NOT displayed yet others of these ARE displayed. This widget is displayed at the bottom of most pages, Joe.

    My Calendar version 3.1.14

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Can you share the settings for your widget?

    Title: {date}
    Template: {timerange after=”, } – {link_title}
    Text for no events: <span style=”font-size: 16px”>No Special Events Today</span>
    Categories to display: 1, 5, 6, 13, 15, 20, 22

    All the other fields are blank

    If you look on the Calendar page for today’s entries, you will see that in the widget at the bottom of the page all the activities of the day are displayed in the widget.
    Only the last one has a category which should be displayed.

    thanks for looking into this. H

    Sorry, I was looking at Saturday’s events. For Friday, only the pink activities for Friday should be displayed in the widget today. That is: the 10 and 11:30 activities.

    All of the events displayed are either in category 1 or in category 22. There are three events that are in category 22 and *also* in other categories, but the display of events is inclusive.

    8, 22 – 9:00 am – Toning, AUD
    3, 22 – 9:30 am – Plymouth Meeting Mall
    1 – 10:00 am – Writing Class, CFR
    1 – 11:30 am – ACTS Signature Services: Living Room Talks, LL
    8, 22 – 1:30 pm – Brain Games, CFR

    I think I understand, Joe. The original definition of the extra categories (9, 9:30, and 1:30 were 8, 3, and 8 respectively. On some particular days earlier I made the event on that particular date CANCELLED which is category 22.
    It sounds like if I edit and change the category of an individual date of an existing, repeating event,e.g., from 8 to 22,

    So if I want to change the category of a particular date of a repeating event to cancelled, if I delete the event on that date and create a separate new event with the new category I won’t have this situation.

    In the meantime, I’ll remove the 22 category from the widget. That works, too.

    Thanks for following up on this for me. Nice work! H

    OOPS!
    Incomplete 2nd paragraph above, corrected here:
    It sounds like if I edit and change the category of an individual date of an existing, repeating event,e.g., from 8 to 22, the today’s events widget software sees both the 8 and the 22.

    Are you telling me that those events *don’t* actually have both categories? Because if that’s the case, there’s a separate issue going on here that I’ll need to investigate.

    The front-end clearly shows that the events are assigned both categories; so please let me know if that back-end doesn’t indicate that, as that’s a separate concern.

    No, Joe. What happened is this:
    On some occurrences of these events I changed the category to Special instead of General.
    Now those Special events are in the past but the software still sees the group as Special and General because of those particular past events edited to be Special.

    I got around the issue by just using a link to a new webpage in the widget area
    The webpage contains:
    [current_date format=’l, F d, Y’]
    [my_calendar_today template='{time} – {title}’]

    I ignore categories and just print everything on this new page.
    I was using Categories to keep the widget output small but folks seem to like this approach better. Thanks for your help with this issue.
    I will mark it resolved. H
