My wife has a blog for her kindergarten class, and in the sidebar there are calendars that show if the kids have school that day. This morning when she went to the blog, there was no link to today’s event and it showed on the calendar as black text (as opposed to orange text with a link, which would indicate there was an event). The event still shows under the Important Events list, so it seems something is wrong with the calendar widget, not the event.

The CSS looks okay; it is displaying the class as eventful-today, which should make the number bold and orange.

    Her site is https://www.westmountkindergarten.ca.

    Thanks,
    Geoff

Are you saying it worked correctly as a standalone event but not recurring? Because my events that are not displaying correctly are all recurring events. Perhaps that’s the problem.

Actually, I’m wrong. All the events so far have been standalone events; the recurring events start tomorrow. Tonight I’ll take out the CSS I added and see if the recurring events work correctly.

I created a new standalone event for tonight, but the calendar widget is still not working. There’s no hyperlink on today’s date for tonight’s event.

What if you make it recurring?

@steve, i you raise this in the Pro forums, I’ll have a look at your install. If it’s a bug it’ll get fixed (free or pro, bugs always get fixed!).

reason for my last comment is because geoff is talking about a custom calendar widget, not a standard sidebar widget. If this happens to you on a normal calendar, not meant to happen. on my installs calendars show today’s events as linked.

    Marcus,

What makes mine a custom calendar widget? The only thing custom about it is the hack I added, but that is to attempt to evade a problem — it doesn’t create one.

    Perhaps I’m missing something, though.

you’re saying you have a scope in the future, meaning any past event shouldn’t show (probably even today’s events if earlier in the day).

does it do this to you also with a normal calendar widget for example?

I use the “event calendar” widget (from your plugin) and today’s date booking is not hyperlinked.

    Marcus,

I am using the Events Calendar widget in the sidebar. I have Title set to “K1 Calendar”, “Show Long Events?” is not checked, and “Category IDs” is set to 1.

My earlier comment about not showing past events turns out to be false; the calendar is still highlighting old events (and even keeping the link). I apologize for the mixup. It is the Events widget that I have set to only show future events, and it correctly shows the current day, too.

So, the link and CSS highlighting on the calendar is appearing for past and future events, just not current ones (i.e., today).

aha ok, so I guess we can call this a bug. next challange, reproducing it.

I still see current dates showing up no matter what I try. Could it be you don’t have an event with that category?

I have the same problem on my site.
Tried to do a clean wordpress-install on a WAMP-server and I′m still not able to see todays event in the calendar.

@marcus what information is required to help you? A MySQL export? WordPress login info?

If grahnbarr2 can replicate it on a clean install that would be useful.

I was about to say, “well, check this site out, it doesn’t happen there”, but it does!

not sure why it was working well on my tests, but now that I can replicate it fixing this shouldn’t be an issue.

    Plugin Author Marcus (aka @msykes)

    (@netweblogic)

can’t tell you what fixed it, but when checking this issue, it’s fixed locally, so the dev version should now fix it for you too (will make it into next update)

    Thanks Marcus, it’s working!
