toc for chapters/book?

Hi,
I’m just wondering if this plugin would work to create a table of contents to be displayed on a “book” page, where a number of single posts make up “chapters” and the toc points to those chapters? It’s looking like the plugin is for one long post, not a bunch of posts, and essentially the chapters are a bunch of posts related by category (IE: “Book”). Can it create the table of contents by category or tag?
