We are new to this KB, and like what we see. We only have demo installed, but had a few questions.

The dropdown section menu appears to be a widget on all pages. If we remove the sidebar, the sidebar “space” remains, even when the theme is set for a single page, no sidebar. We hate to waste that space. Are we stuck with it?

We see no TOC widget, does it exist? Documentation says an auto-generated TOC is possible in the paid version, is there a demo anywhere? We are looking on your site, but do not see what we identify as a TOC example.

If we have the sidebar AND a TOC does that eat up two sections of page space?

The front page, the base KB page. We definitely do not want a sidebar here period. We’d prefer a nice full screen with 2, 3, 4 etc. columns. This does not seem possible as, again, the sidebar seems to remain.

    Thanks!

    Hi @grungyape,

The main KB page is using your WordPress theme template. You can remove the sidebar from there choosing a page template without sidebar if your theme has one or you may have to create one for that specific page.
The rest of the KB pages are rendered using BasePress templates.
The sidebar can be removed from BasePress > Settings > Appearance > Default Sidebar Position and Force Sidebar Position on Articles

The ToC is a premium feature and it can be seen in our site at this link: https://codesavory.com/knowledge-base/basepress/features/table-of-contents/

It can be added as a Widget in the sidebar or in the article’s content. In this last case you can choose from the BasePress theme’s settings to have it at the top of the article or floating on the side of the article.

I hope this helps but if not just let me know!

    Thank you.

So I had wondered about the main KB page, and that’s how I tested it originally, per image: https://i.imgur.com/kC7nSJp.png However, I still see this: https://i.imgur.com/XW0ZBYn.png

Thank you for the BasePress > Settings > Appearance, this did what we wanted on article pages.

Your second comment about the BasePress > Settings > Appearance also was the key to my front page issue. Setting it like this: https://i.imgur.com/tTIJNdd.png and then setting the main page to no sidebar did the trick. Now I can control each page as needed.

Thank you for the TOC example. Does that have a sticky/float option?

    Hi,

yes the ToC does come with a sticky/float option when used in the articles content (not the widget).
It would appear in an extra “sidebar” next to the article.

Thank you for all the help, I’m letting folks see it to make a determination.
