• Hey Guys,

I’m new in the web development world. I have about 5 sites, mostly on Joomla on the same template. I want to know a couple of things…

    1. Does SEO get severely affected by converting to WordPress from Joomla?
    2. Is there a stronger community on WordPress?
    3. Is it as user friendly as Joomla?
    4. Is it only good for blogs?
    5. Is there lots of templates, modules and plugins?
    6. Any major advantages of converting?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, this is the sites I run and designed. It’s my first ones so please me any advice.

    Thanks so much!

    1. Does SEO get severely affected by converting to WordPress from Joomla?
    Potentially in the short term.

    2. Is there a stronger community on WordPress?
All depends on who you ask and what you’re looking for.

    3. Is it as user friendly as Joomla?
Generally speaking, WP is much more user friendly, especially for non-coders.

    4. Is it only good for blogs?
    No. Consider WP a CMS.

    5. Is there lots of templates, modules and plugins?
    Yes. “Lots” is an understatement.

    6. Any major advantages of converting?
Depends on what you’re trying to achieve. If you’re already set up in Joomla and things are working well for you, there’s probably not enough reason to switch over to WP.

You can avoid SEO issues with well crafted .htaccess redirects.
