    I found the solution to my earlier Question “How to disable comments?”

    per-page
    dashboard – pages – all pages – quick-edit (hover over page title)
    see: ‘allow comments box’

    individual posts
    dashboard – posts – all posts – quick-edit (hover over page title)
    see: ‘allow comments box’

    in general to adjust as needed
    dashboard – settings – discussion
