• I own 3 URLS, nationalcomicsnetwork.net, nationalcomicsnetworks.com, nationalcomicsnetwork.com, all forwarding to the same subdomain ncn.spatiallegacy.com. From my old server and domain nationalcomicsnetwork.net, I took a backup of my wordpress installation and now, I am hosting wordpress within the subdomain ncn with new domain spatiallegacy.com. I figured out using wp-config.php to change the database username and password, fixing the “cant connect to database error.” Now my browser can not connect sighting “Too many redirects” and I see that nationalcomicsnetworks.net is bouncing to ncn.spatiallegacy.net back and forth then timing out.

I can not use wp-admin to change the setting under URL, I imagine it is still set to nationalcomicsnetwork.net forcing it to get in a redirect loop. This is pure speculation. How can I keep the url to remain ncn.spatiallegacy.com so as it may retrieve the data from my server?

  • Hello, marciecarelock, & welcome to the WordPress support forum.

You can’t change the url on your admin panel because when you put those options in wp-config.php, it prevents changing them from your dashboard.

Frankly, I think you’d be considerably better off to use .htaccess to make these redirects. Sometimes, your hosting provider control panel even allows you to do these sorts of redirects under ‘Domains > Addon Domains’,i.e., you just put where you want the domain redirected, in which case you wouldn’t even have to mess w/the .htaccess file.

Let us know if you need help figuring out those steps.
