Your plugin seems to be messing up the permalink on facebook. While the link that the featured image points to is correct, if you have Permalink selected in the Message Format for Posting, some posts link to some random page or post. I am having to go back now and find the ones that do this–you cannot tell by looking…you only know when you click the link and goto a different page or post than the one shared. How do I fix this? I am now unable to fix anymore for the next hour as I have used all api’s fixing the ones I have found.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It is doing the same thing on Twitter sharing. I am having to go delete almost every post I have used your plugin for so I don’t have links pointing to the wrong place . . . something that I’m sure would kill my serp rankings.

On instagram, there is not even a live hyperlink to the post. It shows the address, but it not a live link. And this is only if you find the page that shows the exerpt. Just viewing the posts there is no link, and the image does not link to anything.

IT IS A PROBLEM ON TWITTER TOO!

It looks like the permalink has a random word appended to the end of a link (like /being) that creates a 404 error, or just a totally different page/post.

Not one single instagram post linked to anything.

    Hello @gatehealing,

Please make sure that the {PERMALINK} in the message format is surrounded by spaces before and after it.

For Instagram, please note that Instagram doesn’t allow links in captions or comments, so it is not possible to include clickable links there.

    Hope this helps.

should there be dashes between the {bracketed} parts to be shared? I think I saw them when I was deleting {permalink}s.

I made sure there are spaces around {Permalink}. There’s no incorrect permalink because there is no permalink at all on twitter. The link at the image just goes to the blown up version of the twitter post (on twitter . . . it does not go to my site the way other posts do [either from other plugins or even from your own–there are other posts that link just fine and take the user to my webiste blog post])

It appears that not only does there need to be a space before/after {permalink}, but there must also be a dash. So it needs to be:

    {POST_TITLE} – {PERMALINK} – {POST_EXCERPT}

If it’s not like that, at least for me, it does not put a link at all even if the {permalink} is there and surrounded by only spaces.

Thanks for the help–I don’t remember seeing that detail on the settings page, nor in the box at the bottom of the editor. Might be a good thing to add unless this is some strange problem only related to my Enfold theme.

    Hello @gatehealing ,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your observations. We appreciate your feedback .

Regarding the space and dash around the {PERMALINK} tag, our testing has shown that a space before and after {PERMALINK} should suffice to generate the desired link. It’s possible that the theme you’re using has specific requirements or customizations that affect this behavior.

If possible, reach out to the theme developers to inquire about this and if they have any recommendations.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure a smooth user experience with various themes. Your feedback is valuable, and we will investigate the possibility of adding more detailed instructions in our settings or editor boxes to prevent confusion.

If you have any further questions or run into any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help.

    Best regards,
    Anjali
