  • Todd,

You have an og:image tag in text widget 7, aka a meta tag that is not in the head section of your webpage; Facebook doesn’t like that. You can troubleshoot these issues using the Facebook Debugger. Also, you might be interested to know that All in One SEO Pack Pro has its own module for handling opengraph meta tags as well.

    Peter,

Thank you for your quick response and information. I couldn’t figure out where that missing meta tag was. However, I’m not very skilled at looking at code.

I fixed the issues that FB debugger mentions, but it didn’t fix the issue with my post titles and info. showing up in Facebook.

I’m not sure if this is an All in One SEO issue or Jetpack. I’ve seen info. for both, but everything that I have tried hasn’t worked. I have deactivated both plugins to no avail.

    Todd,

The next issue is, the opengraph information on the page is for your homepage, not for each individual post or page, i.e. the og:url, the canonical link that Facebook uses for the page, is always pointing to your homepage instead. From its placement, I’d guess this is in the header.php of your theme, and therefore isn’t an issue with Jetpack or All in One SEO Pack. You should correct or remove these meta tags. Jetpack can also add Opengraph meta tags to your pages, but it currently does not appear to be doing this.

Thanks for all your help Peter.

I’ve been researching for help on fixing the canonical link with no luck. If you have any other suggestions, or can point me to a place that would have an accurate answer, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks again.

    Todd,

Edit the header.php in your theme; remove the opengraph meta tags there if they are present there; get a plugin such as All in One SEO Pack Pro or JetPack that can manage these meta tags for you instead. Make sure you don’t have duplicate Opengraph meta tags. The og:url should be the url for the current page.

    Peter,

I have deleted the info. in the header and have Jetpack working as well as All in One SEO. I’m getting issues now on the FB debugger and still have the same problems with the specific url’s still linking to the main site.

Does Jetpack and All in One have compatibility issues? Somewhere, there is something blocking FB from picking up specific url’s, I just can’t find it.

    Todd,

Check those urls in the Facebook debugger, it looks like you have it configured correctly now.

    Peter,

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. It looks like it wasn’t working until the FB cache was renewed. I guess I was too quick on trying it out.

    Thanks again!
