Titles missing on search and 404 pages

    In the current version of the plug-in, page titles (i.e. HTML title tags) are empty on all search results pages and 404 pages.

    Here is an example:
    https://www.testdriven.co.uk/?s=ford

    The title tag exists, but is empty. The same occurs on 404 pages.

    Posts, pages, and tag and category archive pages appear to work correctly.

    I happen to have a copy of an older version the AIOSEO plug-in (2.3.8), and if I regress to that titles work perfectly, so it appears to be something introduced since then.

    I have been through the recommended troubleshooting steps without change.

    Note that the problem exists with all other plug-ins disabled, and with the default theme.

    I’m implementing a workaround in the theme for search pages for now, but here’s a link to a page that should generate a 404 with an empty title tag.

    I’ve done some more testing on this and it appears that everything is fine up to and including version 2.8 of the plug-in, but in 2.9 onwards the title tags are empty.
