Ok, i added the appropriate tags.

In the browser its correct.

It now says: Reach |The Drainage

Which is better than the previous: ReachTheDrainage

But the title of the story used to say : Reach

Now it says: Reach –
Which I dont want, and it has added it to all 170+ posts. Just a personal preferance thing for me i guess. I dont want the post title to have that.

I used the help tab before and have attempted to do this but cant find a solution that pleases bot the post title and up on the top of the browser.

Also pressing space bar does not work.

I dont know where it comes – after your titles.. but i know this shuldnt be Seo isue as your titles are without –
It will be helpful if you send screen shot from your post titles SEO settings.

Seo post titles as in your case should work as this:

Title template: %%title%% | %%sitename%%

Also can be: %%title%% | The Drainage

%%title%% | %%sitename%%
(title tag) (space) (sign) (space) (sitename tag or The Drainage)

I dont want the site name to show up on the post name

Idk how SEO titles can add something in your post titles. It shuld change just your SEO titles for searching engines.
Did you do some steps before? Do you use some other plugin for changing post titles or so? Did you do some changes to your single-post.php lines? Check your single-post.php file and there try to find this –

Try Only title without sep and sitename

I know what is the problem!
SEO by Yoast is using same functions as your theme. This causes it to change your actual post titles.
You should write to the theme developer for comparability with this plugin.
