• Resolved Jon Yoder

    (@darkshadowfor)

I just realized that my title variables are not being replaced.

    Examples:
    %%tag%% %%sep%% %%sitename%% is replaced with %%tag%% – Jon Yoder

Feel free to poke around: https://jonyoder.com

It seemed to be working fine up until I updated to the latest version today. I disabled my cache plugin to see if that would be doing it, but that didn’t change anything.

The only other thing that I can think of that could trigger this is that WordPress is in a sub directory, so I don’t know if the .htaccess is more complicated to change. (shot in the dark information)

Thanks for any help you can provide! I’m hoping to get this fixed before Google re-indexes pages.

  • Same here, variables (in my case %%category%%) are not being replaced properly. Some do though.

I used a backup to revert WordPress SEO to the previous version where everything was working fine.

I’m having the same issue for Author archives since updating to 1.5.3, see here : https://provenquality.com/author/gareth/. The title tag returned by WordPress SEO is : <title>%%name%%, Author at Proven Quality</title>

Hi @darkshadowfor I had a look at your website and I can’t see any variables. I see everything working. I used Seamonkey browser running Windows 7.

    Kind regards

Yep, the update seemed to break the %%name%% short code.

@mbrsolution, there aren’t any problems on the home page since it’s a static title, but there were on the weddings and engagements categories as well as the custom taxonomies.

I downgraded to the previous version and I’m all fixed up. I’ll be more hesitant to instantly update now…

    Thanks everyone!

Hi @darkshadowfor, what I normally do with some plugins like WordPress Seo and security plugins is to read the changelog first. Then I update my testing environment locally using xampp and test it thoroughly. I read the support forum in www.remarpro.com and see what others are reporting. Once I am satisfied then I upgrade. In the case that my upgrade does not work properly then I recover from a backup that I create before I upgrade if the issue is huge or simply revert to the previous version just like you did here.

So far my method above has saved me hours of issues like some report here in www.remarpro.com. Most time is just common sense which is conflict with plugins or themes.

I am happy to hear your site is up again without issues.

    Kind regards

I do not know why this is now listed as “[resolved]”. The issue is still present in WordPress SEO 1.5.3. I too have reverted to an earlier version of WP SEO, but this should not be the solution.

Try replacing %%category%% etc with this – %%term_title%%

    The issue continues to persist.

I should not have marked this as Resolved, since I also downgraded to get it working again–which is just a workaround. Changed back!

Has this still not been acknowledged as an error by development? I think I’ll stay on my older version until it’s mentioned in the changelog.

Hi, has anyone tested the latest version 1.5.3.2?

    Regards

It looks like it has been mentioned in the May 15th changelog. I’m going to check it out and see how it goes.

Seems to be all back to normal with latest update. Marking as resolved again. ??

I am having same issue, using plugin version 1.5.3.2

The %%title%% and %%excerpt%% are both showing up as that – rather than pulling the actual title and excerpt.

It would be great if this could be resolved soon, or at least have some feedback as to why this is happening.

    Love this plugin btw ??

If it helps anyone else, reverting back to Version 1.5.3 fixes the issue.
