Title tag and meta discription missing

I have learned that it is important that I have a title tag and meta description. The problem I have is that I am using a custom header image that has the title and description in the graphic so If I go into my dashboard/general settings and enter it there too to shows over my header graphic and looks funky.

Is there a way to to have a title tag and description and not have it show in the header? Thanks, Joe
