• Since the latest WP upgrade, when I type in a post title, it displays the text in all caps, though the blog itself displays it as upper/lower (which I desire). It’s annoying because I can’t tell if I’m typing the case properly until I preview or publish.

    a) Is this just me?
    b) Is there a good reason for it?
    c) How can I fix it?

I tried looking at the source, and grepped the css for “uppercase,” but don’t see any obvious way to fix.

  • There is a style that can be applied to make it show as uppercase. It could be added by your theme or a plugin. It is not WordPress or the editor doing that.
You can use the Health Check plugin in Troubleshoot mode to isolate what is doing it. It helps you disable plugins and theme for your user only, without affecting site visitors.

I’m sorry, but you seem to have not read my post for comprehension. I DO NOT WANT IT TO SHOW UPPERCASE in the edit page. And yet it does.

Yes, I read that. I suggested a plugin to help you find which plugin or theme is doing that, so you can change it. It is not WordPress, so you have to figure out where it is coming from.

That plugin seems to be built in to 5.2, but I see no “Troubleshoot” mode, and it provides me with no obvious information as to what could be causing this.

No, the Troubleshooting mode is only in the plugin. You have to choose that mode and it will have links on the Plugins page for Troubleshoot. You need to disable stuff and see if it had an effect, then move to the next and try again until you no longer see the problem.
