There appears to be a bug in Yoast SEO 16.9 whereby the Title Separator under SEO > Search Appearance > General > Title Separator does not save its setting.

It is stuck permanently on the dot (sc-bull). If I change it to sc-pipe, for example, and click “Save changes” it appears to stick, but if you navigate away and come back it will have already been reverted back to sc-bull.

EDIT – It’s not limited to just Title Separator. No settings save at all.

    Hi @jbalyo

We tested this out with Yoast SEO 16.9 and we can confirm that changing the title separator in the Search Appearance section is saved when you click on the ‘save changes’ button.

Are there any JavaScript errors appearing in your browser’s console?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

    Thank you @mikes41720 .

After further investigation, I found this was caused by a conflict with W3 Total Cache. Specifically when its Minify feature is enabled, that breaks the ability to save settings in Yoast’s SEO > Search Appearance menus.
