Hi – I am attempting to solve an issue in which posts beyond on certain date on my website are displaying “%%title%% %%page%%” instead of the actual post name. For example, when I send a post link via iMessage it normally displays the article name. But on older articles (dated Jan 2020 and earlier) such as: https://www.consciousconnectionmagazine.com/2019/10/sea-hear-now-asbury-park-2019/ it is showing up as %%title%% %%page%% Screenshot here: https://snipboard.io/CkSAZ7.jpg

I am trying to remember what changed on my site after Jan 1 2020. It could be that I switched from http to https but I can’t remember for certain. Any insight into how to fix this would be appreciated.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi Anthony,

We checked the example page and found that there are two sets of og:title tags. We confirmed that the tags output by Yoast SEO have the correct title. See this screenshot.

Does removing this extra set of tags solve the problem?

To find out what is adding the incorrect tags, you can do a test to see if this still happens if you?deactivate all plugins except for Yoast SEO and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Twenty-One.?

We recommend doing this on a staging site or using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin.

We have a step-by-step guide here:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Thank you for the reply! I will have to look into this further to see. I am not sure how those extra set of tags got there or how to remove them. I will attempt the steps you listed and reply back here if a solution is reached.

    @achiaravallogmailcom Thanks for your reply.

One of the sets of Open Graph metadata is being output by the Yoast SEO plugin, and the other set is being output by either another plugin or possibly your theme. ??In order to resolve this we would recommend reviewing your other plugins/themes settings and disabling their Open Graph output so as to remove the additional set of Open Graph tags.

If you are unsure which plugin is causing the additional set of Open Graph tags to be output, we would recommend performing a conflict check and disabling other plugins and then reviewing your page’s source code to check whether the other Open Graph tags have been removed.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance in this matter.

Hi again – circling back on this issue I connected with my theme developer and he indicated I must update to the latest theme version to correct the issue (the theme was completely rebuilt from the ground up).

After about a month of updates getting the new site to look correct on the new theme version staging site, I noticed this same exact issue has resurfaced (it wasn’t happening initially on the new theme only after I made some updates). The only thing that fixes it is disabling the Yoast SEO plugin.

I went through the steps of disabling every other plugin and have opened another ticket with the developer to see if it’s something caused by the theme but still nothing.

Anyone on your team that could assist with locating the root cause of this issue?

My staging site is located here:

    Thank you

Quick update here – I figured out this was only happening on certain posts due to my Social Snap plugin. I believe it did some type of manual debug to pull in old share counts and it must have created the issue with duplicate OG Tags. I will follow up with that developer directly. Thanks again!
