    Hello,

Yoast SEO or WP seems to be outputting special characters as HTML in the Title.

Search engines and browsers render it fine, but when our content is linked on Twitter (and maybe other places), the special characters look like html code in the title link.

So an apostrophe looks like: isn't
    It should look like: isn’t
    & = &

Is there a way to make Yoast SEO or WP render special characters before adding them to the title?

    Thanks in advance,

Seems the editor rendered the code. Here it is again with proper tags

So an apostrophe looks like: isn'st
    It should look like: isn’t
    & = &

Geeze, even code tags are rendering the HTML.

Well, I’m not sure what to do, here it is with spaces between each character

    So an apostrophe looks like: isn & # 0 3 9 ; s t
    It should look like: isn’t
    & = & a m p ;

I can’t, it’s a private project. Is there something you’re interested in knowing specifically?

    Hello,

There’s really nothing to show except my explanation above.

Symbols are turned into HTML in the Title. So you if you view source, symbols in the title tag:

    That’s an apostrophe

A request was closed regarding the escaping of characters here. As this is expected behavior and does not impact your site’s SEO from our research, there is not a method to undo the behavior.

As for sharing on Twitter, this tweet from our account includes escaped characters and displays correctly on Twitter. Therefore, the issue you’re seeing with sharing your site on Twitter may not be directly related to the output of the Yoast SEO plugin.

Does the issue happen when you check a URL from your site with the Twitter card validator here?
