Tips to safely upgrade to UM 2.0.4 ( with break changes )

    Hi Everyone,

    Here’s how you safely upgrade to UM 2.0.4.

    There are lots of changes, bug fixes and improvements in the latest release. And there are also some break changes that require a couple of steps to prevent any blocking pages or fatal errors after the plugin upgrade.

    • If you’ve any UM extensions, please deactivate them before you upgrade the Ultimate Member plugin in the plugin manager screen.
    • Ensure that you’ve created a full backup( as a restoration point ) of your site before the plugin update.
    • Update the main plugin in the plugin screen.
    • Check for any errors displayed on the admin screens and front-end. If you found any notices or errors, please create a support ticket with screenshots of the issue.
    • There are break changes in the WP Menus with UM settings. You need to re-save the settings again. You also need to save the settings in the Roles, Forms and Settings in WP Admin > Ultimate Member.
    • If there are no issues with the UM 2.0.4, you can now proceed with upgrading the UM extensions. It requires you to upgrade the extensions manually. You can download it from https://www.ultimatemember.com. Extensions should be deactivated when updating it manually to avoid any fatal errors. If you’ve any issues with updating the UM extensions, please create a support ticket on https://www.ultimatemember.com/support/ as the wp.org support forum is only available for the Ultimate Member plugin.

    I noticed that there is now a version 2.0.5. However, this did not fix my issue, which is the same as many others — that pages supposedly hidden for nonmembers are still publicly accessible. Any updates on progress in fixing this? Thanks.

    Everything went completely wrong with 2.x upgrade. Regret to use this plugin and thinking seriously to uninstall it and use a different plugin!
    Unreliable!

    I agree, I’ve found other plugins out there that seem to be similar and just as good (if not better)… but I’m unsure about all the add-ons (which is where UM seemed to shine, at one point).
