TinyMCE disappears, config file lacks close

HI folks,
After 2 weeks of working fine on a fresh install, I’ve suddenly lost the editing buttons on pages and posts in admin. The media buttons display, but they do not work when clicked. I just get a cycling image on the tab. I read through some fixes for WP 2, but they don’t work or don’t apply. I found one post that said there were extra characters at the end of ?> in the wp-config file, but my config files, even fresh downloads, show NO closing php tag. I added one, but it didn’t change anything.

Any help appreciated!!!
