The plugin works fine on my main site, but it does not show up in the wp editor on sub domains or any other multi site installations. https://www.mainsite.com works fine. https://www.xyz.mainsite.com does not work, and https://www.mainsite.com/xyz/ does not work. (These are just examples, not actual sites.) It happened after a recent wp version update. Everything was working fine before. It’s not a browser issue – I tried it in Chrome and Opera. It’s not caused by any plugins – I deactivated them all and cleared all cache.
I read a few threads about this issue but have not found a clear answer on how to fix this.

I am not a developer and don’t know how to mess with code files without precise instructions. However I have built all my sites and have several multi site installations. There is clearly an issue with wp and tinymce. I have lost most of my editing abilities for several sites. Can someone please tell me what I can do to get tinymce working in the sub- and addon domains.

I found the solution – problem solved.

Hello @shamakern I am having the same problem on my multisite install, might you be able to post your solution?

Yes – I found out that for some strange reason there is one icon in the top tool bar which is called “toolbar toggle”. It is not present on my primary sites, but it is present on all my sub domains. Somehow this was set so that everything except the first row of the toolbar was invisible. I know I didn’t do that, so it must have happened automatically with some wp update, I imagine.

When I clicked on the toolbar toggle icon (it’s a square icon in a square frame) all the toolbar rows showed up again. This was never the case previously since I have had those multi-site installations for years. This just showed up one day. I had never seen this icon before, so I wasn’t even aware of its existence.

By default WordPress has that “toolbar toggle” button. It has been there since 2.2 I think ??
