Timthumb Google images hack

Is it me or has no information of the recent timthumbs hack used to manipulate the Google images search reached these forums? I usually start on the forums when looking for information, so I thought it would be nice to at least make a note here.

There appear to be many themes and plugins using timtumb to scale thumbnails. The outdated method is flawed and activelly being used on WP sites, probably sought for using bots. I heard about it on the Dutch forums because a host noticed heavy traffic on WP sites on his servers.
