Timezone won’t set and Comments wont add automati

  • Right, I set up WordPress 1.2, fully integrated into my site, a few days ago, with the help of Podz, it is working fine so far, except for two things:
    1. I can’t set the time zone in the options, there is a blank edit box, I type 12 or +12 or 1200 but everything I enter and click apply, the box is still blank after I saved it.
    I tried posting some comments to test this, and because of this they say 2:AM when it should really be 2:PM… if only I could set the time zone to +12 hours, why does it not work? what am I doing wrong?
    Secondly, is it supposed to be possible for a comment to appear automatically without approving? I went through all the options, set everything that has to do with “Approve” off, and I still have to approve comments. I just want a comment to appear automatically.

  • For the comments:
    Options – Discussion. Scroll down to the ‘Comment Moderation’ box.
    That being blank could be a problem, but then so is comment spam. Get the list to fill that box from the link next to it, but be sure not to have a blank last line. That should work.
    With the time, can you do +1 ? then +2 and continue to see when it fails ? Or does that not work either ?

    Ok, the timezone is set to +12 and it works great…
    I was able to set it in: Options -> Other Options
    But there is a similar, blank “time” based field under: Options -> General, which I could not set, it contains a blank, maybe that confused me. I don’t know if it is a double up field, but I can’t set that field anyway.
    However, by setting the field in Other Options to +12, it did work anyway, so that is that one solved…. now for the other one ??
    Both fields under Comment Moderation contain blanks too, and I cannot set them. Maybe this happened because the setup did not finish sucesfully??? Maybe I need to manually add them with PHPMyAdmin?
