    Hello,

In my wordpress settings I have my timezone set to my local which is US Central or America/Chicago. In wordpress my Events show correctly but when I use the Link in a Calendar to share on Google it changes my times back to UTC 00
How do I keep it from going back to the Universal timezone?

As you see in the link my times show 7:00pm but when I share the Calendar to my Google calendar, they all change to 2:00pm

    Tony

    Hi Tony!

    Thanks for reaching out.

What’s the timezone of your SportsPress settings? You can check it under Sportspress > Settings > General:

    Thanks!

Side Note, when I go to Google Calendar and look at the Calendar that I shared the TimeZone settings show UTC 00, yet my default settings are America / Chicago

    hi there!

    Thanks for your reply.

That’s odd. Where are you getting the calendar link from? Can you share it with us?

If your sportspress & WP timezones are correct, then the calendar should use them as well.

    Thanks!

I’m getting the link from the backend, Events / Calendars / then choose edit on one of my calendars and then on the right side of the screen under “Feeds” it has the three links for the different calendars, I am using the Google link I click the icon to share and it opens up google calendar when I add the calendar it is off by 5 hours.

    Hi there!

Thanks for that. Do you have a live example? I’d like to check your site and maybe check if this could be caused by some custom coding, check the calendar itself and so on.

    Thanks!

Not sure I follow what you mean by a “Live Example”?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your reply.

I just mean a link where we can see this online.

    Thanks!

    Hope this works,

    webcal://urthllc.org/calendar/denton-broncos-schedule?feed=sp-ical

This calendar is set at Central time zone -5:00 for now since we are in daylight saving time but normally would be -6:00

    That is the Calendar link

Here is the link to my schedule:

    https://urthllc.org/denton-broncos-2020/

You will see on the schedule that everything is set at Central Time 7:00pm for most events and is showing that on the schedule.

    Hi there!

    Thanks for your reply.

That was exactly what we needed, thanks!

I can see here the correct declaration of a timezone:
    https://prntscr.com/uxudqn

When I import that URL, it looks like Google Calendar is reading it correctly:
    https://prntscr.com/uxuf3h

But when I look at an individual event, indeed it has the wrong time:
    https://prntscr.com/uxuk7d

    When it should be:
    https://prntscr.com/uxuki3

So it should be 9pm here.

It is indeed loading GMT-0 even though the calendar is on GMT -5

Now let’s investigate the event itself. This is the block that defines that event (added empty line breaks just for clarity):
    https://prntscr.com/uxutcw

When we take a closer look, that one looks right as well, considering the original timezone.
    2020 (year) 10 (month) 23 (day) T190055 (time)

To be honest, I don’t know what is causing this. I’d guess this is a Google Calendar setting (as calendars are indeed weird). But I’m not sure what to do next as the data we provided is correct, even though Google is reading it incorrectly.

    Thanks!

I will post on a google help site and see what I can find out.

    Hi!

That’s a great idea, thanks for doing that! As far as I can see the calendar code itself is right, so maybe it’s a setting I’m missing, or it could be something else.

    Thanks!
