• I’m curious, I’ve been running wordpress on more ten servers for years and always my timestamps within my ftp have not been altered by wordpress itself. To me, unchanged timestamps always have been an indicator that my files havn’t been altered by malware/hackers/whatever.

Since this year I can see changes happening to the timestamps of wp-config, themes and plugins folder from time to time.

Is this the regular behaviour now?
    Why are these timestamps changing?

I don’t have auto updates on for my plug-ins and no wordpress core update has been installed when the timestamps changed.

I’m just curious. Are my installations f***ed in some way?

I remember back some times the upload folders for a month have been created without uploading anything on various installations of wordpress.

Outside of updates, the only file WP might touch is .htaccess, and only when you alter certain permalink settings. That said, WP will by default auto-update minor releases (3rd version number). I believe a notification email is still sent to the site admin email when this happens, but such emails often go missing due to any number of external influences.

But why has it never happened before? Especially with the timestamps of folders that haven’t been altered all the years before.
