    I just set up a form as a widget in the footer. I’m using reCaptcha v3. Multiple times, when I enter an address, I’m getting a message at the top of the form “timeout-or-duplicate”. It is not clear what this means.

    It is NOT a duplicate email address in my mailchimp audience.

    It doesn’t happen all the time, but it happens very often. I can’t figure out why it happens sometimes and not others.

    I enabled debugging in your settings, but no errors are getting logged.

    I just tested the form and I didn’t get an error.

    I Googled “timeout-or-duplicate” because I’ve never seen this error either:
    https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/verify#error_code_reference

    timeout-or-duplicate The response is no longer valid: either is too old or has been used previously.

    1. Validity time of the token expired (After you get the response token, you need to verify it within two minutes)
    2. Token has been used previously.

    When are you seeing this? Are people reporting it, or are you entering emails into the form?

    My apologies, I modified one thing on the form at that website. I disabled recaptcha in your plugin settings. Then the problem stopped. I don’t want to leave it “live” because I don’t want people to see that error.

    I was testing it myself. And my apologies, I wasn’t tracking exactly the sequence. I entered an email and registered. I tried another email, it got this error. Multiple tries, multiple errors.

    I will try to set up a test staging website that uses this to see if I can duplicate it, on a site where it doesn’t matter if errors show. But that might not happen until next week

    If you’re trying multiple times in a row, then it’s reCAPTCHA seeing suspicious behavior and showing that error. I think you can add reCAPTCHA back and your visitors will be fine.
