Note sure if it makes a difference: Using Elementor.

found the problem:

If I use ‘MEC Shortcode Builder’ in elementor, then the date format doesn’t work.
When I use MEC Calendar -> shortcodes -> and then use the shortcode in “Menu Modern Events Calendar (MEC)” in elementor, then it works.
So it’s an issue withing “MEC Shortcode build” for elementor.
But ok, for me it’s resolved with the workaround.
