Time Since Plugin Troubleshooting

Hi,
I’m trying to get Rich Manalang’s Time Since plugin to work on my blog. However due to the fact that my local timezone is different from the server’s time I get a ‘-1 year 12months’ on my new posts.
Does anyone know how to modify the code to fix this? I’ve tried modifying Dunstan’s Time Since, but I can’t get it to work either. (I want the elapsed time to be a mouseover, and I can’t figure out how to get Dunstan’s Time Since to do this).
