Just published some stuff for the first time since the latest update of this plugin, and two out of three posts gave me this error notice:

Sucuri: Something went wrong with an API call (send_log action):
Failed connect to wordpress.sucuri.net:443; Connection timed out

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by
    (output started at public_html/wp-content/plugins/sucuri-scanner/sucuri.php:6409)
    in public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 235

The posts were published despite the time out, and everything seems OK otherwise, but obviously something is off. Please advise.

  • @e-commerce-concept go to the “API Service” panel located in the plugin’ settings page, change the value of the “API Request and SSL” option to “Stop peer’s cert verification”, then change the value of the “API Request Timeout” option to something lower than five seconds. These changes should help address the issue, let me know if it works for you.

Alternatively, do what @bhulsman and other users have done, disable the plugin until the DDoS attack to Linode’s servers stops [1], you can follow their status page [2] for more information.

Yorman, thank you for providing the alternative code, excuse my ignorance but am I right in thinking that all I would need to do is disable my existing plugin installation of Sucuri and then install the plugin alternative you have provided above?

Any idea of when the update may be coming out officially?

    Thank you for your help.

    Gary

I was having the same problem but Yorman’s last comment about dropping it to something lower than 5 seconds (I did 3) worked for me. Thanks!

I have installed your update and it seems to have corrected the API timeout error I was getting.

Just FYI, since installing the update I have noticed a PHP notice showing in my debug notes that there is an undefined index ‘m’ in:

    /sucuri-scanner/sucuri.php on line 5116

    Thanks
    Gary

Guys, please fix this. I’m having this issue on every instance (15 Websites!!!!!) too. This is really annoying, nothing helps here, even increasing the request timeout.

@sommerv – I agree, that worked for me too!

None of the links above seem to point to a development version of the plugin. Is there a development version available to test? I too am having timeout issues, specifically when trying to log in.
