• Hello,

After switching a site to SSL,the images served up by the CDN (both tiled galleries & Photon images) are appearing, except for many of the ones in the tiled gallery on this particular page: https://meghanmace.com/personal-portfolio/.

In the console, many of them are 404ing. Some images hit a 404 and show the “We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched” message initially, but then are successfully pulled in on subsequent attempts by the browser to get them. Even when I disable SSL and view that page over http, those images are still missing, so it appears that SSL itself may not be the culprit. Could it be an issue with server-side caching on the CDN, possibly?

Can you please let me know what I can do to resolve that? I’ve tried deactivating Jetpack then re-activating it and reestablishing the connection to wordpress.com, deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default WP theme, and re-saving that WP page with no luck.

    Thanks,
    Kellen

  • Turn the CDN off (temporarily).

    While at HTTPS:

    • Deactivate Photon.
    • Disconnect JetPack.
    • Reverse that and make sure to give Photon time to catch up (they need to ‘pull’ your images to their CDN to serve them with a proper URL).
    • Turn cache back on.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what you mean by “Turn the CDN off (temporarily)” and “Turn cache back on”. My understanding is that if Photon is on, the i0.wp.com CDN is being used, and if it is off, the CDN is no longer being used.

How can I “Turn the CDN off (temporarily)” without also deactivating Photon? Likewise, if I’ve already deactivated/disconnected Photon & Jetpack, then turned both back on, what does your last “Turn cache back on” bullet point refer to? Can you please clarify?

Thanks so much for the help.
