tiff files uploaded via gravity forms not showing in cart

In my site customers can upload their images via gravity forms and then using the WooCommerce plugin have thumbnails displayed in the cart. The thumbnails work for png, jpeg/jpg, and gif, but when uploading any tiff/tif/TIF/TIFF image the thumbnail does not display and shows either an empty box or displays the alt = tif-thumb-doesnt-exist

Is there a way to fix this or a way to have the image converted to jpg when it is uploaded through gravity forms?
