• Hi hi,

I sent you a comment on your site (I’m Virgil) but you directed me to this page.

Basically, I have tried to insert the php function into my header template, as I want it to occur just after my menu and boxed area. However, firebug gives me this error:

TypeError: jQuery(…).ditty_news_ticker is not a function
    https://www.thesaid.net/
    Line 331

All that shows is the “breaking news” title and no bar, ticker text or anything.

I have tried to also change some of the css in the custom field, however nothing changes – might this be because of the error?

I have a feeling it’s something to do with my slider, but it is intergrated into my theme and I would prefer to keep it.

    Thanks man!

I am unable to view your site. I’m guessing you have a plugin running to hide it?

Are you seeing other javascript errors on your site when you view through firebug? If so, those errors are probably crashing jQuery before my script is able to run.

Oops, sorry, yes I was running a plug-in to hide the site. I’ve diable it.

Now there doesn’t seem to be any errors registering on firebug, but the plug-in still doesn’t work. In memory, I don’t believe there were any other script errors on my site.

    Cheers mate.

Hang on, sorry, I received these erros loading a different page:

    ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
    https://www.thesaid.net/life/curiosity-and-the-end-of-the-world/
    Line 5

And then, when loading a post:

    JQMIGRATE: Logging is active

    ??-eJy…6cpS2E= (line 9620)

JQMIGRATE: jQuery is not compatible with Quirks Mode

but I’m sure these or at least the latter is related to my jetpack comments plugin, and the issue with the ticker is still there on other pages where this script doesnt run.

    Cheers!

Looking at your source all the html elements are there, but the jQuery is definitely not firing. It does seem to be stemming from the individual ticker script loading before jQuery. I will have to re-work how this script is loaded and make an update.

I have just submitted an update that will fix the jquery placement of my script. If you still have issues after updating your plugin let me know.
