• I’ve had to upload loads of images and instead of using the tediously slow image editor I did it via ftp. I put the links in the same as the ones I’d uploaded via the image uploader however the .thumbnail ont he FTP doesn’t work.

    Does WP makes a database entry for the uploaded ones and is there anyway I can get my thumbnails generated for the FTP generated ones!?

    Yes. Thumbnails too.

    No. Delete them and upload them through the normal uploader if you want to do that.

    You don’t get it both ways here. You can either manage your upload files yourself, via FTP, or you can let WordPress handle it and get auto thumbnails and posts for them and everything. But not both.

    Or you can install some special image handling plugins. There’s lots of those.
