Thumbnails using a posts excerpt

I didn’t look at your screenshots, but the_excerpt as it is won’t allow for images, or any html tags for that matter.

Will allow you to define which html tags are recognized.

I’ve accomplished using CSS showing a thumbnail on the home page, and the full size image on single post view, if you’d like to know more about that, I’ll provide a link to a short tutorial I wrote up on my blog.

What markup would I need to use in order to display the excerpts that I want, the current post the previous and next post?

Also, a link to the tutorial would be alot of help.

Tutorial on my blog

I am not sure, but I think the <?php the_excerpt_rss(); ?> tag — although, originally created for different purpose — takes all html code over to the index pages. This would include the thumbnail image as well. Haven’t tested it, but it might be worth the try.
