I’ve been trying to get the thumbnails to show 6 images across. The content area looks like it’s 760 wide and I have the thumbnails set to 120px, with 0 columns. I also added the code snippet .ngg-gallery-thumbnail { margin: 4px !important; } to the Styles (which I found in another response on this subject) to reduce the margin size to 4px. I then regenerated all the thumbnails on the site and nothing happened.

What am I missing? I have this plugin installed for another client too and I’d like to be able to do the same setup (the thumbnails aren’t changing size on there either).

    Thanks!

@midnightblog – Are you setting the thumbnail sizes before or after inserting the display? If they are being changed after the inserted display has been added then you will need to edit the inserted display; if they are changed before the display has been added then they should be used as the “default” for the specific inserted displays added after the change was made.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais,

Thanks for the response. I’m not entirely sure what you mean (maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet). I created the galleries and used the default setting first after adding the images. When I put in each gallery, it showed ALL the images from both galleries in each of the separate spaces after using the button on the Edit page. I deleted those and used a short code. That showed the single images. The sizes were changed after I removed the galleries the first time.

@midnightblog – Can you share the shortcode you are using for this display? Also, the URL for this display to see things first-hand may also be helpful.

    Thanks!

The link to the display is: https://studio.bluesunstudio-inc.com/firepower/about-us/

The shortcode I’ve been using is: [nggallery id=#] (of course the gallery ID number is where the hashtag is).

Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

@midnightblog – Although the NextGEN Legacy shortcode you are using will continue to work it leaves very little in the way of customizations that are available in the current NextGEN Gallery shortcodes.

As it is, the actual width you are working in for your site appears to be 680px (see https://take.ms/cas2L) … to get six (6) thumbnails across you would have to make those quite small (in the range of around 100px wide?!)

    Thanks!

That was another thought, that the short code I was using was old. I’ll take a look at the current ones.

I agree, those are small thumbnails. I’ll relay that to the client. Thanks for the screenshot. I was using Firebug and it was showing me 100px more than what you found.

Keep this thread open for a bit. I’ll come back with an update. It may help someone else. Thanks!

Success! Thank you so much. Yes, these new codes are extremely flexible. Here’s the one I used:

    [ngg_images gallery_ids="3" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails" override_thumbnail_settings="1" thumbnail_width="95" thumbnail_height="95"]

They’re small, but that’s what the client wants.

You rock, Cais. Have a great weekend.
