@triplemaya – The example you are sharing is a Basic Slideshow display, just change that to a Basic Thumbnail display and it will default to the thumbnails instead of the slideshow.

    Thanks!

Thanks. But how?! I have searched high and low, and googled, and can find no setting or declaration of type. There are of course sections for both NextGEN Basic Thumbnails and NextGEN Basic Slideshow, but I cannot find where to select the default.

@triplemaya – What are you using to insert the display into your page?

I have just taken the site over.

Thanks. I have gone through this looking for settings. The settings in the relevant pages describe very clearly how to alter settings in each type of gallery. But I cannot find out how to switch the default gallery from one type to the other.
I have only just been handed the management of this site, so I have no idea how it was inserted. If this can be told from the interface, please let me know that, but that is not something I have been able to discover either.

    SOLVED
The answer to the query in case anyone else is having difficulty is simple (so simple I cannot now imagine how I missed it!)

    Change

    [ngg_images gallery_ids=”1″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow” gallery_width=”600″ gallery_height=”400″]

    to

    [ngg_images gallery_ids=”1″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” gallery_width=”600″ gallery_height=”400″]
