    Dear all
    I installed NextGen today.

Primarily because I want to use the WP Flowplus plugin. There is an option to create a gallery inside a post, using images from a NextGen gallery.

So far so good. Accoring to WP Flowplus the gallery uses in the caroussel the thumbnails. By chosing the right thumbnail sizes, one can chose the caroussel size.

With NextGen I made a gallery, and with Manage Gallery (with Bulk action) I made thumbnails of 900×600 (and different sizes).

When I go to the gallery, I see all images in the gallery. But when I select “Edit thumb”, a window opens that says “Select the area for the thumbnail from the picture on below.” However, no image is displayer. When I press ‘update’, a popup says me that I should use the most to select an area. However, no image is shown. I used several browsers, and cleared cache.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem ?

    Kind regards

    Hi @diedhert!

Let’s first check the server settings to make sure you have everything up to date. Reach out to your hosting provider and confirm they have the www.remarpro.com Requirements settings in place:

    MySQL v5.6 (or higher)
    PHP 7.2 (or higher)

    Memory limit: 250MB (or higher)
    Upload limit: 50MB (or higher)
    Post limit: 50MB (or higher)
    /wp-content directory has sufficient permissions (i.e. 755)

With those in place, everything should work smoothly for you. If the issue still shows up, let’s check to see if there is a plugin conflict happening. Temporarily deactivate all plugins, then reactivate NextGEN Gallery only. Does the issue still appear? If so, temporarily switch to a WordPress theme (this deactivation is only intended to quickly check to see if the issue goes away or is still present). If by deactivating the other plugins, the issue does go away, reactivate each of the other plugins one at a time to locate the culprit. Keep me posted on your results ??

Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution. Please feel free to reply again if you still have questions. ??

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I would like to join diedhert on the issue – exactly same problem.

Asking him to check permissions seems very broad to say the least as he explained he was able to upload the images already (= permissions seem fine).

    My server spec are following:
    ***************************************************************
    Server Settings (from /wp-admin/admin.php?page=nextgen-gallery)
Operating System : Linux (64 Bit)
    Server : Apache/2.4.10 (Debian)
    Memory usage : 59.75 MByte
    MYSQL Version : 10.0.37-MariaDB-0+deb8u1
    SQL Mode : Not set
    PHP Version : 5.6.38-0+deb8u1
    PHP Safe Mode : Off
PHP Allow URL fopen : On
    PHP Memory Limit : 128
PHP Max Upload Size : 2M
PHP Max Post Size : 8M
    PCRE Backtracking Limit : 1000000
PHP Max Script Execute Time : 30s
    PHP Exif support : Yes (V1.4 )
    PHP IPTC support : Yes
    PHP XML support : Yes
    ***************************************************************

Can you please provide technical details on which exact parameter is important for the thumb/edit generation?

I doubt it would be for example “PHP Max Upload Size : 2M” but I can imagine it could be “PHP Memory Limit : 128” issue or the PHP version being incompatible (though 5.6 is still officially supported).

Can you please check with your technical staff which exact parameter is critical to have the edit thumb working?

    Thank you.
