    Hi there,

Thank you for this plugin, first and foremost.

I noticed that when I am using the WP query loop block, if I set the popular posts plugin widget to use “large” as a thumbnail, it will not load thumbnails. I can use any other size except for “large” — I am assuming the query loop block uses large for featured images but default, and for some reason two queries can’t use the same images.

    Hi @the9mm,

Thanks for the report. I’ll look into it as soon as possible.

    Hey there,

As an update, I’m actually having issues reliably showing the featured image at any size when the query block is present. I thought it was just large, so I toggled to medium instead, but the images keep disappearing on me.

    Thanks for the update!

So what happens when you use a custom image size instead of the built-in ones? Does it trigger the same issue @the9mm? (I’d test myself but I’m currently swamped with work so if you could please check for me I’d appreciate it. Might help narrow things down.)

Thanks Héctor. I’ve tried switching to a theme-specific image size that is usually used in the blog (theme is Talon, so there’s a declared size called “talon-blog-image” that I know WP would not be using outside of the blog page) and am testing that to see if it sticks.

I noticed that with the other sizes, it will work immediately after switching to a different size, but after a while will stop serving the featured image at all. Even stranger, when inspecting it, an img tag doesn’t appear present when this happens. I’ll let you know what I find out in regards to the custom size if it does/doesn’t work after a while with the query block present.

Got it. Hopefully this should help get me in the right direction. It’s likely -and hopefully- an easy fix.

I’ll give it a go as soon as the workload eases up or sometime this upcoming weekend, whatever happens first.

    Thanks again for helping out!

    Hi @the9mm,

Sorry it took this long to get back to you. Workload hasn’t really eased up, keep getting busy.

Anyways, I tried replicating the issue with the latest version of WordPress (that’s 5.9.3 at the time of writing) and the latest version of the plugin (5.5.1) and everything worked normally. WPP continued to display thumbnails all the time, even with the Query block inserted on the page.

    Here’s what I did:

    1. Installed a clean version of WordPress 5.9.3.
    2. Installed WPP 5.5.1 (and enabled it).
    3. Added the Query block to a test page, didn’t make any changes to it.
    4. Added the WPP block, configured it so it shows thumbnails.
    5. Saved changes. Refreshed the Page Edit screen a bunch of times after saving, nothing changed.
    6. Checked on the front-end, WPP rendered normally every time.

Is there something else I should try to reproduce the issue?

    Hi @the9mm,

Forgot to update you here. I was able to reproduce the issue and fixed it so please update to version 6.0.0 as soon as you can.

Thanks again for the heads up!

Hi Héctor. I missed your last post before this, but I’m glad to see you were able to reproduce the error and fix it. I really appreciate that!
