  • Hi HeleneFi,

I just had a look at this and can’t see the code you’re referring to. If this is an isolated case, it could be an issue with the particular page you’re trying to share… if it is NOT an isolated case, perhaps you could link me to examples and I’ll take a look.

The code that appears instead of the thumbnail is in bold below (which is the whole post that displays in activity:

Interesting interview of Donnie Maclurcan of the Postgrowth institute

    | Extraenvironmentalist’ image=’https://www.extraenvironmentalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/donnie3.jpg’]Donnie Maclurcan is co-founder of the Post Growth Institute, an international group exploring innovative paths to global prosperity that are not dependent on economic growth.

My question is why does the URL of the thumbnail appear and not the actual thumbnail. On facebook the https://www.extraenvironmentalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/donnie3.jpg image is the actual thumbnail.

Ah! I see what the issue is here. The post you have linked to yhas square brackets in the page title [Post Growth]. The closign quare bracket is being read by BuddyPress as the end of the shortcode which is displaying the post… and so it’s displaying the rest of the shortcode as normal text.

i.e. the full shortcode would be posted as:

    [[Post Growth] | Extraenvironmentalist’ image=’https://www.extraenvironmentalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/donnie3.jpg’]

so the ] after Growth is confusing things.

Not sure if this is our plugin or BuddyPress causign this. I’ll mention this to the developers and see what they say.
