Hi, I signed up for the subscription plan and executed the first optimisation round on my website tampertime.com but I still have images unoptimised.

When I run Google Insights or Pagespeed on my Chrome browser, I get images need to be reduced:
The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 422.7KiB (89% reduction).

https://tampertime.com/…/Passion-for-Coffee-2-960×704.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 960×704 to 309×226. Serving a scaled image could save 102.3KiB (89% reduction).
https://tampertime.com/…/coffee-plant-960×720.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 960×720 to 309×232. Serving a scaled image could save 95.3KiB (89% reduction).
https://tampertime.com/…/IMG_4993-960×720.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 960×720 to 309×232. Serving a scaled image could save 84.8KiB (89% reduction).
https://tampertime.com/…/Photo-3-13-15-2-17-17-PM-960×398.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 960×398 to 309×128. Serving a scaled image could save 18.0KiB (89% reduction).

Configured:
Checked – JPG cloud optimisation
Checked – Remove metadata
Checked – Lossy JPG optimisation
Checked – Exclude full-size images from lossy optimisation
Checked – Exclude full-size images from metadata removal

I’m using CloudFlare but I checked on the server itself testing specifically with the image: https://tampertime.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/coffee-plant-480×360.jpg
The image is 65kb. I tested locally with Shrink ‘o matic and I got it reduced to 35kb easily.

When I go to Bulk Optimise it says:
63 images in the Media Library have been selected (0 unoptimized), with 797 resizes (0 unoptimized).
Previously optimized images will be skipped by default.

What am I doing wrong?

some of the images have been shrunk but not that one, and I’m not sure why.

Pagespeed is indicating your images need to be scaled/resized. EWWW (and all the other image optimizers) only do re-compression. You need to take care of the scaling issues first. You can do so with shrink ‘o matic, or use the built in WordPress image editor (or possibly just use another existing resize).

Thanks for the response but I disagree. I’m only talking about compression. I took that image offline and compressed it and reduced it from 65kb to 30kb without changing the dimensions.
It seems like this thumbnail size was skipped.
I’m using Dante theme if that has anything to do with it.

Turn on debugging, and you’ll be able to see exactly how much EWWW saved on that particular resize by going to the Media Library in list view. It will show you the raw image metadata, along with the savings achieved for each individual resize.

What settings are you using in shrink-o-matic if you are not changing the dimensions?
