I installed this plugin on a localhost copy of my database in order to test it out. So my production website does not have your plugin installed yet. I have 2 questions:

    1. I want to replace the default category output with your list plugin. However, in my movie review website, most of my posts start with a URL link to a thumbnail-sized image from themoviedb.org. Does your premium version allow links to images rather than having to store an image in the WP Media library?

    2. In my localhost database, I created a page and put the shortlist code to the list in it. But, the page does not show any excerpt text, even if I manually copy some text into the manual excerpt field. Both of the excerpt settings are unchecked.

    Hi

    1. If the free version of this plugin works with 3rd party plugins for external featured images the Pro version works with them, too.
    2. Did you ativate “Show post excerpt” on the list edit page?

    Hi Martin,
thank you very much for your reply in these difficult times!

“Show post excerpt” displayed the first 150 characters of the post, but it did not help with the thumbnail. I am not using a 3rd party plugin for the thumbnails.

I put a post on my production website to show what is happening on my test database. I hope that explains my problem better.

Thank you again for your help!

Thank you for the detailed description on your test page. Ok, the “first image in the post content” finds only internal images, i.e. images previously uploaded to the media library. External images are not considered. Nor in the Pro version, too.

Thanks again for your help and responsiveness. I know I’m probably a rare use case, but maybe someday you could consider changing your code to find the first referenced image, internal or external?

    Best wishes,
