• Hi,

I have compressed and optimized all the images on my website. But when I use foogallery to display them, the thumbnails generated have a bigger file size than the original images, some times up to 3 times! How is this possible?

For example one of the original images is 184 KB (896px x 1280 px), the thumbnail generated is approx 626 KB @ 600px width.

As you can imagine, this slows down the site considerably.

How can I ensure that the file size of the thumbnails is smaller than the original images?

    Thanks,
    Anita

I tried to resolve this on my own by making the originals the same dimensions as the desired thumbnails, but the problem persists. The thumbnails have a bigger file size than the originals.

For example, now after resizing the original to 600px width, the file size of the original is 102 KB, and the thumbnail generated by foogallery also at 600px width is 344 KB ??

    Please help!
