Thumbnail generation – Thumbshots.org shutting down

I just came here with a Thumbshots problem as well and learned the news…. interested in the solution myself.

I can add support for another thumbnail generation service, but could use your help in finding a good one. I know I was contacted by folks from shrinktheweb.com a while back. They seem to offer free and paid tiers, like the other services I was supporting.

Anyone have other suggestions of what I should look at?

I also found and tested this plugin and it captures screen shots with no need to add a premium service… not sure if it will help you?

Thanks. I will look at adding support for the WordPress.com service, but I won’t be able to get to it until I come back from a week-long work trip on Oct 27.

@jackdewey, I’m also having the same problem with thumbnails… do you think the wordpress.com service will be running soon?

I have been working on it, but have not yet found a way to get images downloaded from the wordpress.com service. It works fine if you want the images to always be served by their service, but not if you want to generate the thumbnail and keep it offline.
