Dear GeneratePress development team and forum users,

I am super thankful that you put out a free version of the theme and I have been using it seamlessly for quite a while now.

I use Thrive Architect to layout and edit my posts and pages, and I generated 2 pages on my site (/blog and /marcas) a while ago.

Now when trying to edit those, I get a Javascript error that reads as follows:

    “””
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘top’ of undefined
    at Object.get_available_target (editor.min.js?ver=2.4.5.2:5)
    at Object.insert_from_parent (editor.min.js?ver=2.4.5.2:5)
    at insert_element (main.min.js?ver=2.4.5.2:5)
    at HTMLDivElement.dispatch (load-scripts.php?c=0&load[chunk_0]=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,hoverIntent,utils,common,admin-bar,thickbox,quicktags,underscore,shortcode,media-upload,backbone,wp-u&load[chunk_1]=til,wp-backbone,media-models,moxiejs,plupload,wp-plupload,jquery-ui-core,jquery-ui-widget,jquery-ui-mouse,jquery-ui-sortable&ver=5.3:3)
    at HTMLDivElement.r.handle (load-scripts.php?c=0&load[chunk_0]=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,hoverIntent,utils,common,admin-bar,thickbox,quicktags,underscore,shortcode,media-upload,backbone,wp-u&load[chunk_1]=til,wp-backbone,media-models,moxiejs,plupload,wp-plupload,jquery-ui-core,jquery-ui-widget,jquery-ui-mouse,jquery-ui-sortable&ver=5.3:3)

I contacted Thrive Support and they determined that there is some clash with the theme, as this does not happen when I deactivate GeneratePress and activate one of the default themes.

I have searched both the GeneratePress free and premium forums and the TA forums and I believe that this has to do with some variable definition from GeneratePress, but I am not able to find the issue and I do not know how to fix it.

Is there any chance anyone can take a look at this and point me in the right direction?

I would very much appreciate it.

    Thanks!!

    Hi there,

That’s strange – that error doesn’t look like it’s related to GeneratePress.

What happens if you deactivate all of your other plugins but keep Thrive and GP activated? Same issue?

Have you made any changes to the theme at all? Using a child theme maybe?

    Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for answering my query ??

I tried deactivating each of the plugins except GP and TA and the problem still persists, yes. Also editing with TA works when I activate one of the other themes, that’s why I thought it might be related to GP :-/

The only change to the theme I ever made was in the footer, but even when I restored the original theme settings (and I updated it also btw!) I had the issue with editing those 2 pages.

Is there any way I can provide you with more information that might tell us more about the issue, possibly?

    Thanks so much!

Strange – can you try re-installing the theme? We haven’t received any other reports of this, so I’m thinking there might be something going on with your install.

    Let me know ??

    Hi Tom,

Again, thanks so much for the quick feedback. I could only look at this today.

It was indeed something else, it was an issue with categories and their permalinks. Apparently TA was not reading those correctly, but this is solved now.

Nothing to do with GeneratePress! ??

Thanks for being there to help!
