• I purchased the Pro version of this plugin and does what it says. You can use CF7 to register users from the front end but there are two MAJOR bugs in the plugin:

1. The plugin does not send the registration email (this is the case whether or not the skip CF7 mails option is ticked). The default email responses in CF7 will be sent as usual but the custom registration email for the plugin will not be sent at all.

This is a major problem because WordPress generates a random password for each registered user and the user cannot receive this password to log in since the registration email is not being sent.

2. The plugin disables two default WordPress functions:
Firstly, it disables WordPress password recovery. Here are two emails when you use the password recovery feature. The first email received is when the plugin is activated:

“Someone has requested a password reset for the following account: https://www.#######.com/ Username: ###### If this was a mistake, just ignore this email and nothing will happen. To reset your password, visit the following address: ” –(As you can see, no reset link is sent in the email)

Here is the email received when the plugin is DEACTIVATED:
“Someone has requested a password reset for the following account:

https://www.#######.com/

Username: #######

If this was a mistake, just ignore this email and nothing will happen.

To reset your password, visit the following address:

<https://www.#######.com/123/?action=rp&key=##############&login=#####>” –(Here a reset link is provided in the email)

In other words, if the plugin is activated, a user cannot use the reset feature.

3. Thridly, the plugin disables the password being sent on default user registration as well: For instance, if you decide to use the default WordPress registration page (not through a contact form), the exact same thing happens, you can register successfully and you will receive a confirmation email BUT with no password.

WordPress Generates a random password upon registration but you will NOT receive this password in the confirmation email. So basically the user ends up creating an account that they have no access to.

Conclusion:
Two of these problems can be bypassed by allowing the user to set their password while registering. Although I specifically purchased this plugin to use it use it in an environment in which a user should not set password at the time of registering.

And finally, to bypass the issue with password reset you can use the plugin to create your own password reset form but there are several security issues with this as the form would just have a static URL as opposed to something like this generated by WordPress: <https://www.#######.com/123/?action=rp&key=##############&login=#####>

Requests to developer:
I hope we can get an update that allows the form to send BOTH the custom registration email (including the generated password) AND the default CF7 emails as it is supposed to without partially disabling WordPress password reset functionality.

But otherwise, it is a great plugin.

Please Note: The plugin actually registers the users just as it says with all the data that they input. These are simply a few bugs. I am not saying the plugin doesn’t work.
