I am inexperienced. Sorry if I demonstrate ignorance.
For a page of my site I chose a 3-column custom layout
    I went to Appearance/Customise/Widgets
I placed a different widget in each of Sidebar, Secondary sidebar and Footer 1
The designated widgets appeared in the left sidebar and the footer, but there was no right sidebar, even though the left sidebar and main centre area were psotioned to allow space for the right sidebar. The widget placed in the “secondary sidebar” did not appear at all.
    I would appreciate guidance.

  • Hi @murrayh,

This is was previously reported to us and has been resolved on our end, but not currently here on www.remarpro.com. We are slated to release Primer 1.7.1 this week, and with the 1.7.1 patch comes a few patches including this one. See https://github.com/godaddy/wp-primer-theme/pull/198 for additional details.

When we have 1.7.1 released, and you update to the new version, the sidebar that is not currently displaying should appear once again.

Sorry about the issues, but thank you for taking the time to report it here!

    Best,
    Evan

    Hi Evan

It seems that 1.7.1 has not been released. Any update on when it will be released please.

    Thanks
    Murray

    Hi @newriter,

I believe we’re aiming for a Monday or Tuesday release (7/10 or 7/11). It is just going through the ringer now and being tested and reviewed before the next release.

    Hi @murrayh and @newriter,

This should now be resolved with the release of Primer 1.8.0. If not, please let us know and we can re-investigate.

    Evan

    Hello Evan

Please i have the version 1.8.0 but i cant change my secondary sidebar, it keeps saying that i must select three-column layout for my article to show..

    Thanks..

And i dont know how to select this three-column layout.. Am new to customising theme, Primer happens to be my first..

    Thanks.

    Hi @evanchukz,

Not being able to update the default layout in the theme is a known bug and one that has previously been reported. We have an open pull request that will be merged into the next release so users can update the template inside of the customizer. To follow along with the open issue you can see the following two GitHub issues:
    https://github.com/godaddy/wp-ascension-theme/issues/73
    https://github.com/godaddy/wp-primer-theme/issues/226

Before you can utilize the secondary sidebar, you’ll need to update the default layout. The only current way is by utilizing the method outlined in the first issue linked above.

Otherwise, it is recommended that you hold off for the next release where the template selection should be resolved, and you should have no issues setting up the secondary sidebar.

    Best,
    Evan
